What We Believe
We believe in the following fundamentals of our faith:
- The Bible is the inspired Word of God and the basis for our beliefs
- the Bible is inspired by God and is useful for teaching, correcting, and training in righteousness (2 Timothy 3:16)
- God is one God, presented in three personalities, but without division of being.
- God the Father reigns over all creation (Psalms 47:8, 89:7, 93:1)
- He is all knowing, all powerful, all loving and all wise
- He directs the course of history according to His grace
- God the Son is presented in the person of Jesus Christ, who
- was born of a virgin (Luke 1:34, Matthew 1:18, Isaiah 7:14)
- lived a sinless life (1 Peter 2:22, Hebrews 4:15)
- died an innocent death (1 Corinthians 15:3)
- conquered death by His resurrection ( 1 Corinthians 15:4)
- will return to this earth to take His church to live with Him in heaven (1 Thessalonians 4:13-18)
- made atonement for our sins through the shedding of His blood (Hebrews 9:12)
- God the Holy Spirit
- inspired holy men of old to write the Bible (2 Peter 1:21)
- exalts Jesus Christ in all things (John 16:14)
- seals us to the day of redemption (Ephesians 4:30)
- comforts and empowers believers (John 14:6, Acts 1:8)
- bestows spiritual gifts for the strengthening of the church (1 Corinthians 12:1-11)
- Salvation is by grace through faith and is essential for eternal life, as well as for church membership (Ephesians 2:8-9)
- Baptism is by immersion in water and, while not essential for salvation, is an act of obedience to Scripture (Acts 2:38, Romans 6:1-4) and therefore is necessary for membership in this church.
We also hold the truths of the 2000 Baptist Faith & Message to be distinctives of Southern Baptist Churches of like faith and order.
