Weekly Word | March 17th

HEY IBC,

Have you ever been mentally exhausted? Sometimes in life, we find ourselves in a place where we are constantly making decisions and on the go that it is hard to keep track of what is going on and what we need to do. This past week I couldn't help but laugh as the staff had to remind me of a decision I made that I couldn't remember making. While I am getting older, I don't think that's why. Sometimes when we get busy, the best thing we can do is lean on the others around us and ultimately cling to the Lord by seeking time with Him daily, especially when we are busy.  I have taken refuge in Hebrews 13:20-21, "God has given us all we need to do the good work set before us." Those resources are found not only in the abilities the Lord has blessed us with but your fellow believers who are more than willing to do life with you. Don't do life alone this week!

MINISTRY HIGHLIGHT:

As we know, our youth director Daniel resigned and had his last day this past week. He, Lauren, and Lily all made it to Frisco safely and are excited to see what the Lord has for them next. While we are sad to lose Daniel, the Lord has given us a gift by blessing us with Skylar Hollis to be our interim as we look. Last week we announced that we will have a special called business meeting this Sunday to approve the Youth Minister Search Committee this Sunday. We will do this after the end of both services. The church council has nominated Michael Thompson, Belew Ellis, Mark Windham, Lesley Glanton, Christi Burns, and alternates Josh Nafe and Peggy Elliot.  I also wanted to brag about another great ministry at IBC. We have a fantastic fitness ministry at IBC that meets every weekday at 5 am. This is a ministry open to anyone who wants to experience an excellent workout and morning devotional. Scott Robertson does an incredible job leading this ministry. Many of the workouts they do were built to honor the memory of American heroes who gave their lives in service to our country. There is always room for more to join this great ministry! Jump into a great workout with fellow members and friends at IBC!

PASTOR'S PRAYER REQUEST:

Church, I have a sad update about the camp ministry in Ukraine that we support. While the civilians of the camp are safe, the camp was bombed this week and is no longer standing. The bombing took the lives of Ukrainian soldiers at the camp. We thank the Lord that He provided safety to all of the people who staff the camp and are praying for the families of those killed. Would you please join me in prayer that the Lord provides provision and continued safety to the camp and the people of Ukraine?

 SERMON PREVIEW:

This week we are going deep! We will be looking at how to correctly identify Jesus and how that changes every aspect of a believers' reality. Peter had it right when so many people had it wrong, and that correct view gave him a mission to take that truth to the rest of the world.

WE ARE STILL THE CHURCH!

Pastor Shawn
